A thousand stretches of night (redux)

I grow weary of this world, of this hollow flesh, of these bones, of this desire that I do not desire, and I begin to consider the options—the mountains, the oceans, black and inverted—and I begin to imagine the softest touch I have ever touched.
Still, I cannot imagine the swollen eyes that could capture the certainty of your love, and I cannot imagine, imagining instead a thousand stretches of night striving in the star light, the words that could contain the eminence of your grace.
I hear your voice across every empty field, across the waters and stars as they shatter and descend into dawn, across the plains of my own flesh as it coils and shifts with time
I would burn this page, I would undo the summit of my heart, to speak to you, to utter my admiration for you, to lift my hand to you, to feel your wounds and run my fingers down your side, to know the waters of your life.
