The One You Know

Contributed by Spike on Thursday, 16th October 2008 @ 07:24:36 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

when you crawl into that hole
where only one can fit
when you gaze into the distance
and tell me this is it
when you draw deep into self
and disconnect from all

damn

I’ll be there when you come to life,
and catch you when you fall.

as you suffer all the trials
that conscience will inflict
and live through all the trauma
that one life can collect
to run a rampant course
of rage and grief and pain

sigh

when you make that lonely call,
I’ll take you back again.

though you sink into the bottle
while you raise an angry fist
to blame me for your failures
and the chances that you’ve missed
tomorrow you’ll be sober
and crippled with remorse

oh well

and happy just to have you back,
I’ll bear all this and worse.

The three single italicized lines in this piece are one heck of a nice touch.
Quite artistically done.

Spike, my friend, you quite simply amaze me sometimes. I, not unlike my friend Jecks,
applaud the italicized lines. To me, they are like the inner voice we never speak aloud.
(and yes yes, captain obvious IS my middle name, for your big fat information! lol ).

I love this so much that I wish to claim it fully for my own. There is so much
intimately detailed here, that could have just as easily fell from my pen. When
you bare a soul, you leave NOTHING untouched. I SO like that about you. A
tell-it-exactly-as-it-is kinda guy. (You can always surprise me)

Brilliance never shone so bright, my dear friend. Hope your "spring" is sweet.

Enjoy the days (and the moon filled nights)

~ Breezy

Ah, the things we do for love. I like this... a fine poem about love and devotion. A bit of torture sometimes, is it not?

Take care,

Tim

it is no small thing to be loyal. . . sometimes it seems heavy, like thunder. . . simply loving another, regardless of apparent lack. . . of consequence. . . my mind turns to days, forgotten & easily I can relive this past. . . always waiting. . . just to love & somehow to release the pain. . . I feel you've captured the still moment of love entertaining eternity. how painfully beautiful. . . & beautifully painful. elle
