lurking shadows at every corner stop
reach for you
fingers of darkness
attach themselves to your person
like sticky gobs of Ketchup
falling from a warm hot dog at a summer picnic table
as evil as a daisy is cheerful
born from secrets, lies and fear
they seep from the city-
onto your clothing
through your skin-
to pierce your heart
ribbons of darkness
breed in the city
corrupt the unwary
no one shall leave unscathed
