Insomniac's Lament

Contributed by twick on Tuesday, 14th October 2008 @ 10:38:35 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

Everything is just a smoke screen,
and the air is so thick
you can barely breathe.
I've been living in it
for so many years
that I'm desperate for
someone else to care.
In the distance
a small flicker blinks
on what feels like the horizon,
giving birth to a new hope,
giving strength to these already tired eyes,
so that upon waking tomorrow
something might be different.

This was me last night....
Of course I had a Great Dane and a Yorkie vying for affection which was the torment....
Great job!
Steve

god theres something so forboding about this, its a very tempting write and something we can all relate to, i like the way you never said the word insomnia or even sleep, you painted a lovely picture of your struggle with sleep and it was really good!

" a small flicker blinks on what feels like the horizon"

that was a really nice line, and the last two were perfect!! great write here keep it up!!

Joy cometh in the morning.
I'm a chronic insomniac so I can relete.
Now I write nights and sleep days. Still when total insomnia comes once I've empty my head the I can sleep some.
Very good work, friend.
huggs, blessings,
emy

Flowerbel~
To me, this doesn't seem much about insomnia. This speaks to me about loneliness and disillusionment. Two of the most disappointing emotions ever. Disillusionment threatens to kill that childlike wonder. That horizon you try to focus on. I feel a struggle to hang on to it. Find those lost hopes or build new dreams. Heartless people in this world make it so difficult. For they only add to that nasty D-word...
I am not sure if this is what you meant to do, but your write did speak to me in this way...
Thankyou for this.
Love ya
Kara
