The Wind

Contributed by RougeCoeur on Monday, 13th October 2008 @ 12:39:01 PM in AEST
Topic: NaturePoetry

The wind called to me ~
summoning me from my
peaceful place of dreams.

It animated the trees
and their branches ~
tapping, scraping my walls.

I awoke to its ancient
elemental voices.
It said, "I have many names.
Bayamo, Boreas, Chubasco,
Euros, Papagayo, Huracan, Taku
and The Lash of St. Francis."

It beckoned me ~
calling me out into the night,
"Behold my power and might!

"I rule the surface world!
Mountains erode at my touch.
I obscure the sun and moon
with a tempest of clouds.

"Oceans tower at my bidding ~
waves explode on command.
I am without form, yet form to all.

"Step outside and embrace me ~
stand before me, eyes closed.
Feel my omnipotence."

The wind called to me.
I answered silently
by pulling the covers
tightly over my head.

Nice humorous touch to deflate the majesty.

Doona philosophy rules my life as well.
