The Soldier's Prayer

Contributed by The_Phantom on Wednesday, 19th March 2003 @ 10:45:15 PM in AEST
Topic: Patriotic

Here I am on my knees, asking you to live through me,
I'm a soldier at war, fighting on a foreign shore,
In my time of need, I've come to thee,
Life is over in a blink of an eye, so I've come to you in prayer tonight,

The world is so dark, I need your love to fill my heart,
Accept the souls of my fallen brothers, allow them to rest with the virign mother,
Show them peace they've never seen, please Father grant them their wings,
They've fought and died, I pray you'll dry their familie's eyes,

Forgive my enemies for the hell they've put us through,
Accept their souls, fore all your childen love you,
I'm just a humble servant, give me the power to defeat this evil serpent,
Protect the families left in the rear, as a token of my love accept my tears,

I place my life in your hands, do as you will with this man,
Fore you give us life when we are born, your love is what keeps us warm,
Without you there is nothing, make my life mean something,
Lead me down your path, help us to heal in the aftermath,

Though I walk in the valley of death, I know your with me step by step,
Please hear my call, bring me home if I should fall,
You have the power to part the sea, I pray you'll open your arms and accept me,
Forgive me for my sins, allow me to say, in your name I pray.

Forever Faithful
The Phantom

Matt.... this is such a touching prayer.... this situation is so sad..one which I feel could and should have been avoided. My prayers will also be with those involved......and their families.
Hugs to you from my shores...
Jenni

God Bless our Armed Forces. It is the military and the common soldier that is the backbone and protector of our civilization. Pray to God they are protected also.
Wonderful prayer.

I truly believe that none of the civilians involved ever wanted a war. I pray that there are as few casualties of this war as possible and I am thinking of the brave men an women who have gone to fight. I am not sure I could do what they are doing.

Fantastic poem. I think you speak for many.

Hey boss.

I'm saying your prayer every night, too just like you. It's good since it PRIMES me for my everyday wars too....considering the nature of my job-and my jobs to come. So saying.
