The Day That We All Died

Contributed by puppy_dog_eyes on Thursday, 9th October 2008 @ 12:19:49 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Oracles spoke against us in relentless twisted ways
Malevolent and cold, spitting poison in their words
Venom choked the neutral minds, turned all pure to rot
Bastions of sense subdued, crumbled into dust

Stings of hate from which we found no refuge, no defence
Sacrificed to favoured judgement, born of ignorance
Fingers pointing, accusations rained from shuttered minds
Indifferent to our grieving, our deepest mourning mocked

On that same day we all died, one newborn, two reborn
Victims of nature's darkest whim, pawns to cruel deceit
Orphans to compassion, smeared by influencial few
Those that watched us weeping claiming crocodile tears

There is no sin to call to judgement, nothing to repent
The victims are the victimised, stoned by rasping tongues
The day we cradled innocence so soft, so still, so cold
Will haunt our lives for ever more, the day that we all died

This is a great poem. Very deep, very creative. I love the comment about "stoned by rasping tongues." I've never heard anything like it. Great job!

this poem was so vivid and simple,
it described the typical scene after a
dreadful cot death so well.
Thank you, very touching
