Who are you to Judge

Who are you to judge.

Another piece of litter
blows across the road
He pushes the cart ahead
despite the coming cold

His jacket lined with paper
His wallet lined with dirt
His mind lined with memories
of the past before his hurt

He remember every minute
He screams out everyday
Insanity courses through him
When his demons come out to play

He remember the smell of pine
The look of snow upon the ground
The lilting voices of his familys laughter
The love he'd finally found

The presents placed under the tree
christmas only a week away
he lights a candle by the window
watches it flicker, dance and play

He turns back to his family
unaware of the fuze that he has lit
Unaware of the burning clock
Counting down his life with every burning bit

He carries himself upstairs
to kiss his sons goodnight
shuts the door and walks past the burning clock
as it toys with darkness and light

He lays his head upon his pillow
leans over to kiss his wife
pulls the blankets tighter
falls asleep with his perfect life

He wakes and tries to blink his eyes open
woken by his wifes shrill scream
he sits up in confusion
lights, color, fog that belongs only in a dream

He finds it hard to walk
Like a thousand pounds walking down a hall
he sees his wife at the door pounding
screaming, crying, praying
for her sons to answer her call.

He recognizes the disaster
if his wife opens the door
a single twist of the knob
will engulf the smokey floor

he tries to call out to her
but is unable to catch his breath
he sees her twist the handle
and be engulfed in flaming death

He smells the burning flesh
sees the burnt corpses of his sons
he grabs the two black corpses
Turns down the hall and runs

He places them on the lawn
their skin darker than coal
he knows their already dead
he can feel insanity grab his soul

he turns and runs
back inside to find his wife
completely unaware
of the risk to his own life.

He finds his beautiful wife
burnt in flames down to the core
he pulls her body to him and screams
his mind unable to take anymore

Burnt and shattered
Broken and tattered
A burnt corpse of himself
Where nothing ever matters

Years later he sits on the curb
you hear him cry and sob
you continue to judge
wondering why he doesn't just get a job

He pushes his cart ahead
his scars blatent to see
you continue to judge.
"why cant you be like me?"

He says:
Who are you to judge?
have you lived my life?
have you seen your reality burn?
your home, your sons, your wife?

so be careful who you judge
what you think and do and say
because it can happen to anyone
it just wasnt you that day.
