We Said Love

Contributed by karoody on Saturday, 4th October 2008 @ 02:49:38 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

We said love, if only for a day
Felt that laughter
Cried together too
We laughed at all those people
Wasting their love
Taking each other for granted
We said love with happiness in our hearts
And made promises with hapiness in our hearts
Sleeping with our secret dreams
Daring the world to try and take them
But we woke the next day
In their world
Try as I may
I can't rebuild ours
For we both decided to listen
To all those fears
Whispered into our souls
So we closed that door
We still say love
But only to our notebooks now
Just like before
It rained all day today, love
As I wrote these words
I laughed and thanked you
Cause you alone knew
Just how my heart missed
That Alabama Rain
But I love too fiercely
And so do you
That classic tragedy we wrote
Was all too true
We talked about those tragedies
That beautiful fierce love
And how happy it could make you
Yet it can destroy
It drove Catherine and Heathcliff mad
Catherine had denied her Heathcliff
We weren't gonna do that
Our tale was to be different
In our secret dreams
But everyone must awaken I guess
So here I am in my usual reality
Understanding there's no blame really
Other than our own
Cause only pain comes with love like this
And unless you've loved this hard
You'll never understand
It's tiresome on both ends
Whether as friends or lovers
All these years and I finally see
My best gift to the world
Is also my biggest crime unto you
Here's my story
Ironic and strange as it comes
It's just so tiresome
With love like this
Cause it reaches into your soul
Makes you want to do more
When all I wanted
Was to be able to care
And so the lovers tale is told
The tragedy spins in time again
But we said love, if only for a day

Oh, this was beautiful. It has almost left me speechless, but I want to say a few words lest you don't realize the impact that it had on me. It was gripping, I breezed right through it, lingering on certain words and ideas that really impacted me. I felt this one immensely, a wonderful post you have here!

Oh Kara..this is so beautiful... I take this as a sign of maturity and of accepting the good with the bad....all that like has to offer and all that makes us into the persons we are...
This is a very profound write.....I love it!!
Hugs
Jenni

My dear kara,

I had this unyeilding sense of melancholy wash over me as I read your
piece and now, it will not relent. When your soul is gripped by such a
feeling, there is but one thing to do. Write. And wow, what a strong,
emotional and poetic piece you've placed here. I agree with Jenni.
I see much maturity and growth here. I see a bond that will not
be shaken, though you may not walk the same road together or
look upon the moon from the same latitude. There will always
been a firm and loving connection. Love for a day can last an eternity.
(Honestly--ask any of the amazing dead poets. They'll be more
than happy to confirm my statement). This was beautifully
written, hun. I adore the last line. It's perfect.

~ Breezy
(P.S. LOVE the Wuthering Heights reference! Be still my heart)

Indeed....
You have hit on something that a lot of people do not understand....
Love can be for a moment, a day and so forth...
Depending on who you are with, depends on how long the love is...
Once again I applaud how much you bare yourself with your writing....
Beautiful job!
Steve

My BraveHeart Kara~
My dear poetess your writes always touch my
heart deeply for I know they are penned from your
very depths. You bare your heart and soul and the
reader journeys into your life through your very
deep and heart penetrating words.
The last line is brilliant hun:
But we said love, if only for a day
Well done my dear poetess and thank you for
gracing our hearts with your remarkable poetry.
love & hugs,
dreamer

I messed up on one of the lines
It should read:
"And made promises with such boldness"
The poem repeats "with happiness in our hearts"
Which I did not want
Sorry guys....
Guess it's too late now,
There's 55 reads on my poem
Someone likes it
But it's gonna drive me nuts
Grrrr
:-)

Hmmmm... now that's odd. I was gonna type I had this feeling of melancholy wash over me as I read hits and noticed Breezy's comment. Ah, I'm typing it anyway. Great minds think alike, huh. She words it better than me though.

So sad... so beautiful. Something makes me think it's a metaphorical day though....maybe?

But we woke the next day
In their world
I was there.. in my world. It appears, unbenoucned to us, our worlds drew a parallel at one time.

You have captured the emotion... the pain...and the thrill of lost love with awesome talent here, Karabear. It's got me with a lump in my throat.

Definitely the essence of the ol' saying " 'Tis better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all" has been captured here with the Karabear talent. Awesome job.

Tim

A remarkably visual piece,,

your stye is one of simplicity,

yet one of inner reaching to

the readers heart, i felt the

pull of this as one feel's the

pull of a magnet against a

piece of metal, your a most

gifted writer, your poetry has

an uncany feel of reality as

though one were privey to

witnessing the episode as

you were writting it . . .
