Moving

Contributed by wizard on Thursday, 2nd October 2008 @ 10:14:17 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

Another move behind, another home ahead,
Through boxes and bags again to tread.
20 miles west of home… nothing but a skip;
I left the shore behind, but always worth the trip.

Aching back and head the same,
This process always quick to maim.
The neighbors and the locale new,
So much beheld within this view.

So many renovations left, each one will be missed,
Another set ahead of me, another lengthy list.
A stairway way here, a new door there…
Painting, cabinets… and pulled out hair!

A fortnight spent through creeks and cracks,
The first two nights, reading by burning wax.
A new journey with each waking day…
Wondering how long this time I’ll stay.

Double Yikes! I remember when I moved.
You don't notice how junk you have until
you actually move houses and boy did I
get rid of a lot of stuff, lol.
Congratulations Wiz on the new house
and here's to happy fresh and new beginnings.
Renovations, take it one thing at a time my friend.
Great write thanks for sharing it with us.
hugs,
sue

wonderful poem!
We would always be moving about! I think
I've lived in every county!! But the line, "Reading by
burning wax," painted a vivid picture of
what it's like. And reading by candle
light is wonderous!

Hey wiz,

Congrats on the new home.
Wonderful piece of writing.
But all I can say is "moving sucks".

I can definitely relate! Because my dad was in the military, we moved alot so my parents would go through all this. But for me ir was the leaving of friends and trying to make new ones and fit in is what got me about moving.

anyway, Great write!

Do the "moving gnomes" mess with you? I always find random belongings I did not know I owned. I always lose stuff too. Last time, I got a cool book out of the deal....
Good luck settling in!
Kara
