Freedom's Song

Sitting in her little room
Her computer
The only contact
With the outside world
She said treat me like
I won’t break
I know I’m not like
Other girls
But I can take
Responsibilities
Let me give
Independence a whirl
Let me do what I can
For myself and others
Let me share my love
Let my spirit swirl
Like a lotus
Through this muck
I will rise to top
And my beauty unfurl

I loved this Shari! At the end, you gave us the vision of the lotus riding with the Phoenix. The legendary freedom of rising above the ash! Gives Hope. But you just have the talent of doing that, don't you? You show the world all this Hope, Love, and Beauty...Tell me Shari. Do you ever look in the mirror long enough to share this stuff with yourself?

For those that have tough time with "outside" world the computer can be a great equalizer. A doorway that can be the beginning of hope and freedom. |

Shari, this was excellent. The last verse was completely captivating
and undeniably inspirational! As I stated before, you have the
most amazing insight and we are all lucky and blessed that you
can manipulate it into such fine poetic verse and then share it
with us. I love the flow of this. It grows and grows until the reader
is feeling the triumph of the writer at the end.
Beautiful work!

So often I see amazing poems that are very short. They say soooo much soooo powerfully with little effort and little length. I see that today. So sweet, inspirational, encouraging , optimistic, so powerful.
This also reminded me very much of someone I have recently befriended. She has a big beautiful heart with a ton of empathy for her fellow humans. She reaches out from her little computer with her awesome strength to this huge world and touches all of our souls with her caring, wit, and charm. She is absolutely incredible!
Like a lotus
Through this muck
I will rise to top
And my beauty unfurl
Yep, that would her; our lil Karabear.
Thank you ever so much for writing this and sharing this with us. From the title to the last word, an amazingly amazing about an amazing woman.
Tim
