yin and yang

Contributed by jantra on Tuesday, 30th September 2008 @ 01:01:31 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

i have stood on the steps of the taj mahal and seen the beauty man can create
i have walked at dawn in the killing fields and seen the consequence of his hate

I have felt the blissful euphoric high of true love as it begins
I have known the bottomless depths of anguish when that true love suddenly ends.

I have seen mans warm, strong hands reaching out to help another in need
i have felt the blows as those hands turned to fists in the protection of his greed.

i have felt the security and comfort of a good job, a nice home, and plenty of food to eat.
i have shivered in the unemployment lines when there was nothing in my cupboard to eat.

i have felt the purity of a childs love who cares nothing of status, wealth, or the color of your skin
i have seen those children grow up and grow wary of each other when societies prejudices kick in.

i have felt the highest highs of life, ive danced the night away
i have known the lowest lows of life when i wondered how id face another day

but its only when you join the yin and yang and unite harmony with strife
that you will ever understand and appreciate happiness, and the timeless circle of life.

for a long time i have said to many people, without tears laughter would be boring, and this poem is a good example of that, it sucks you in, makes you think about the bueaty and horror of our humanity at the same time, this line here is think displays it perfectly: 'i have felt the purity of a childs love who cares nothing of status, wealth, or the color of your skin
i have seen those children grow up and grow wary of each other when societies prejudices kick in.'
then you come to the end, just when you feel there is no hope and your not sure why we bother it gently brings you round to understand the bigger picture. its like you've been handed a blury picture and you cant make out what the picture is of then someone put the picture into focus, great write, keep it up :D
