The time has come,
The nights drawn near,
Children are away to bed
Fire is lit,Your time is here.
You reach up high
To you favourite book,
listen at the door one more time
Check the kids with one more look.
Settling down in your favourite spot
You touch the book as if its alive
Open the pages,draw a breath
And into its precious words you dive.
The smell of the page
The sound of the page
No other noise
Save a spark from the fire and the tick of the clock
Its your time now,so here goes.
You lose yourself in places
You,ve never been
Visit countries and islands
You,ve only seen in your dreams.
You meet heroes and villains
The good and the bad
Feel every emotion every breath
For that moment it can make you happy and sad.
But back to reality you must come
Your needed tomorrow for family and chores
So up you get from your cherished spot,
Replace the book and pull the door.
So special your time to escape
You,ll now sleep and have the dream of dreams
And hope your chance to escape
Is not as far as it seems.

A perfect description on what a good book can do for the soul and imagination. It reminds me of when I first discovered Hemingway. He was perhaps the first author to complete control and grip my imagination inside of his words. There are some books that make us willing slaves, and these words remind me of such.
A wonderful job all around and a sentiment I think many readers (whom are readers of books) will relate to. This is a triumph!
BRAVO!

You reminded me of myself. I was once
so into a book that while I was vacuuming
the floor I had my head stuck into this particular
book not looking at what I was doing, lol.
I just couldn't put the book down. I think it was
called "the long journey home" it was based on
a true story~
I can so relate to your write. It was superbly penned.

This is wonderful! Books are amazing for escape, are they not?
Kind of like the holodeck in a sense, (at the risk of sounding
terribly geekish). lol
Fascinating things can come from books. There is SO much inspiration
found within the pages. Enlightenment of extremities!!
A delightful read. As much as those pages you wander into. ^_^
