~Forbidden Love~

~~^~~

It started oh, so many years ago,
When first they met, their love did show.
Her parents, now, they noticed the signs.
They tried their best to cut the lines.
She was only a girl of ten.
She knew she loved him even then.
He was a bit older than she,
And knew their love was meant to be.

To a distant school she was eventually sent
Time away from him would be better spent.
It didn't help, they were so much in love.
They fit together like hand in glove.
The months apart made their longing grow.
When they got together, this desire did show.
The years rolled by, their love, it grew.
They'd always be together, that much they knew.

Tho' they tried hard to keep them apart,
Their parents knew it was wrong from the start.
We have to tell them, they decided one day,
That they are related in a very close way.
They were both called together, and this they were told.
The secret now out, they both turned stone cold.
The lovers were both now so torn apart.
For their parents had just broken their hearts.

They tried their best now to keep away from each other.
But that didn't work out, neither one wanted another.
They snuck around for some years well
Hoping that one day together they would dwell
Her parents soon discovered this,
And tried once more to stop the bliss.
Once again she was sent away,
In the hopes that his love would stray

On her return home, he was no where to be found,
He had left her little village, moved on to a different ground.
That night she cried an ocean, but still she kept the faith,
She knew he would return, it would never be too late.
The following night when he had learnt of her return,
He came back to her village, for her love he did yearn.
Their love had overpowered them, nothing could keep them apart.
She wanted to please her parents, never wanting to break their hearts.

But their love for each other was just too strong,
And they knew their love could never be wrong.
They decided to get married, so he asked for her hand.
Her father, he shocked them, by telling them they can.
So wedding plans they started, things got into motion,
What was to happen next, they had not a notion.
Something occurred that spoilt their goals.
They once more became, two tortured souls.

Her Mother died just three weeks before,
Their wedding was postponed, now what lay in store!
This lovely couple just wanted to be together,
They stayed in love thru all kinds of weather.
Three months later they tied the knot.
Spent their honeymoon aboard a yacht.
Life was blissful for many years to come,
Their happiness was envied by friends, and then some.

Then came the time when they tried for a child,
Tho' nothing happened for a while, they both still smiled.
After seven years, they thought their dream came true,
But she had a miscarriage and later became so blue.
Although they tried time and time again
It all seemed to them to be in vain.
Finally giving up and accepting the fact.
For the next few months she was unable to interact.

Now all alone she sits and pine,
Wishing she could believe, that everything will be fine.
But deep inside she knows it won't be.
She knows she never will, hold her own baby on her knee.

Jenni,

This is tragically beautiful. It truly puts the reader in the story pulling for the young couple. I love long story poetry and this story can be visualized. Great work.

Hey Jenni~
Hun this was so sad. A poem
that moves the reader and leaves
them with a heavy heart. I am lucky
for God has blessed me with children.
These lines pull at the heart strings:

Now all alone she sits and pine,
Wishing she could believe, that everything will be fine.
But deep inside she knows it won't be.
She knows she never will, hold her own baby on her knee.

A very touching, but very well penned poem.
I hope that all is well with you my friend.
much love & hugs,
sue m

My dear Jenni,

sometimes it seems as if the world is against us, no? This is so terribly sad. After all the lovers have been through
to be faced with a longing that seems never to be ceased is unbearable. This, is heartbreaking. The love that is
shared between the two people in your poem is a love that is envied by most and to be torn apart so damn
much is just gut wrenching and tragic. And the ending, well, damn girl! I weep for her. Suffering comes in
all phases, but it should also accompany beauty, love, and joy. This is terribly, terribly sad. (and I don't even
think that adjective comes CLOSE to describing the emotion you've stirred with your words)

Your talent for poetic story telling shines brilliant in this one, hun. *hugs you tight*

Great post!

~ Breezy

a very sad story, beautifully told. i can almost feel her pain. its such a shame that nothing is ever simple for human beings. for animals its easy. but for us nothing ever goes according to plan. i can't help but feel a strong sense of injustice here, its just not fair that they can't have children. life is cruel.
