Ode to the Moon

Contributed by muinanyere on Wednesday, 17th September 2008 @ 12:51:02 AM in AEST
Topic: dedicatedpoems

Silver disk ascending upon eventide
Flowing through he songs of the ancients
Quietly above the trees you glide
The Earth feels you even in your absence
Your beauty is unparalleled
The subject of stories and worship for so may an age
Sentinel from afar
You cannot be conquered or quelled
Your light no one can cage
Gatherer of the stars

In my loneliness you are there
Constantly present though unseen
My burdens you help to bear
You know where I have been
Always listening, you never complain
As I bear my soul to thee
You keep your silence always
Your secrets are arcane
You help me in my misery
Your kindness never fades

My companion, my friend
You've never left me
You were always there in the end
Only at night I felt free
You've never shared what I've told
As I gaze at the sky above
I am lost in your luminous glow
My life you did uphold
Your light's as soft as the wings of a dove
You alone know my secret sorrow

***three of these lines I have written previously and are from an older poem posted here but I had to do this
for a class and I liked the lines. I would appreciate any comments, thank!s***
