My Heart Is Where Loneliness Abides

The candle's a-light
The wick is burning
I take my flight
And as I rise the smoke is curling

It envelopes me in its sweet scent
I go forth in my quest
The stars twinkle as I ascend
I'm in search of the best

My gown flows around me
My fingers barely touch the clouds below
Tonight I shall try again to see
If perhaps my heart'll be aglow

But when I land I am alone
There is no one there to greet me
I should have known
It can never be

I make this flight
Every single night
And each time it breaks my heart a little more
So alone I return to my door

And hide myself inside
For my heart is where loneliness abides
