My Journey

Contributed by karoody on Tuesday, 18th March 2003 @ 11:05:00 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

I woke up this morning

And punched the mirror in disgust

I hated where I was,

But now I hate who I've become.

Because of my selfish ignorance,

I lost it all

Told lies and false promises

Threw away my life and followed a man-

Allowing him to break my heart daily

Even worse, placed a boundary before everything I loved

I ran and hid from it all,

Took the easy road,

But now one of the people I loved most is gone-

I will never be able to tell him

Of all the things I took for granted,

All the love I had in my heart,

And the peaceful child of myself that died.

There is a void before the ones that stood by me

My loved ones are separated by a deep chasm,

I am forced to taste the fruit of my mistakes.

How do I explain?

Even if they forgive me,

I will never find that forgiveness in my heart

For I have failed at this game of life,

Let the stakes rise too high...

So now I sit here,

The peaceful child inside me lost-

Knowing it's out of my hands

And I can't go back.
