The Parastie

Contributed by one-curly-fry on Sunday, 14th September 2008 @ 10:57:02 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

I awoke the other morning
to survive the war
and I did survive, like I told u I would
and you were there too
but you had worn my soul as a shield
you were there happy in the new dawn
nothing sold to survive
just the bullet wounds in my soul
to hold my hand like it was your right
in that perfect dawn
you were there
to ruin my first touch of fresh air
and then you talked of rebuilding the world
just like it was before
just like what led to the war
just like I was there to make it all again
to die again
to survive hell for you
because I love you
or so you tell me.

I awoke the other morning
alive like never before
ready to drink life
with you still the leach on my arm
telling me how much I loved you
telling me how to build
a survivor without sacrifice
but that is too obvious
to everyone but you
and yet I survived the war
as your shield
and never survived you
a stronger body than you
but weak to the parasite that is you
who tells me how I love you so
my name, what was it again?
What will be put on that damned stone
over my trialled corpse?
Only you know.

Good write!
There is no victory without sacrifice. You cannot have love without sacrifice as well. It takes both people to offer at the alter in order for it to even remotely work.
So you see, there isn't anything in the world worth having without sacrifice. Love makes that pain tolerable.
Keep up the posts!
Steve
