A Certain Period of Time

It takes a certain period of time, my friend
for an individual to open his eyes
and see that he is drawing nearer to the end
and to finally, to eventually realize
that he, himself, was the cause of all
his rage, his grief, his shoulder burdended with lies,
his failure, his heartbreak, his complete downfall,
his own obstruction to the thing he wishes for as a prize

You would, you could, you did doubt me
as I write, as I lay in the desolate aisle
like a knot tied to a knob firmly
like I was struck on some distant isle
your rule of thumb your knowledge
has never led me to resign the night's weight
you ought to be in debt to me, as you are on the edge
of lessening my rough laugh, lessening my natural trait.

One might generalize the ties and rationalize that he pressurizes,
Patronizes, and emphasizes on how he's not meant to idealize.

To publicize is to dramatize
To conceptualize is to plagiarize
To vocalize is to criticize
To socialize is to pry
To synthesize is to lie
To apologize is to cry

It takes a certain period of time, my friend
a certain period of time
for the morning to materialize
and in the first twilight for it to try
then at dusk for it to die.
Just a certain,
a certain
period of time.
