Ross Bleckner: Heartfelt Light 1993 Watercolor and dry brush
The wind whistles slowly
down the ghost town of my heart;
across the boardwalks and the terraces
that have set this world apart
tumbleweeds in their lazy roll
have the main street to themselves;
the shops and houses silent and
as empty as the shelves
the crow’s caw echoes long and loud
through still and desolate air;
the cries unheard nor answered as
there’s no one left to care
the music and the laughter’s gone
the water troughs long dry;
there’s never rhyme or reason
and no sense in asking why.

Oh dear poet. I truly feel this one deeply. You have meshed perfectly
in words the ache from a heart whose inhabitants have just vanquished
into thin air. Tough go of it. I am akin to this kind of lonely and there is a
desperation within your verse that is so quiet it could be missed by any and
all passers-by. There is nothing more subtle than the lonely human heart.
It bleeds in much the same way it does when overjoyed; so much so that
it is hard to detect any deceit that may lay beneath. In this case, there is
no deceit. Just that silent loneliness one feels when being presented with
something that was and trying to imagine it during it's reign. *sigh* This
one really gets to me, spikers.
This is ..... genuine. And that is a word so seldom embraced.
~ Breezy
Thanks for the PM -- made my day. ;)

This poem is so vivid and genuine.
Every word flows into the next-exquisite read.
