For All God's Children

Contributed by karoody on Tuesday, 18th March 2003 @ 09:25:00 PM in AEST
Topic: ChristianPoetry

Why should I pray to your God?
You glorify Him,
Telling me that he loves all his children-
Yet, you slander your sisters
While your brothers are beaten and killed-
Our mother is in tears
Watching her children destroy each other.

Why should I pray to your God?
You speak of a wonderful existence,
Telling me I can have this if i follow His word
Yet, you judge us, knowing not what we feel
While your holy book tells you 'Thou shalt not judge'
Our father hangs his head in disgust-
Feeling no pride in the actions of his children.

So tell me-
Why should I pray to your God?
I see you contradict all you say...
Oh, this glorious hipocrasy,
The violence and persecution-
"What a wonderful world," I say.
"Let me purchase a Bible
So I can pray for the damnation of my siblings!"

religion such a great phenomenon... did all the stories in the bible, koran, torah, and other scriptures actually occur. There probably was a jesus.. there probably was a mohammed, there probably was a moses... but did they perform miracles that are larger than life we don't know... the bible could just be a collection of fairy tales told to children of that age... and even if they were true stories the laws that they preached back then are for back then... they need to be ammended and revised for today's life... an example of this is our own constitution... we have the bill of rights so we can keep adding to adjust the laws to the lifestyles and culture of our time... what the bible or koran or torah says was ment for people of that time... the writers never thought that so many years later people would be readin it and taking it word for word... to be able to understand the idea and concepts of these holy scriptures is a task many people have failed to accomplish and that is why we have hate.... thanks kara for bring and sharing with us such a great poem!!

Yes, this is excellent .. this freedom of spirit ... I love. you have a right to question when you get a doubt.. never believe any thing blindly ,unless you are sure that it is truth.. and for God these religions are immaterial. even though I am deeply religious I can boldly say that no word is capable of discribing the absolute truth... venkat
