Missing Button
Groggy, malcontent, trudging through
long, endless hallways.
My eyes narrow as I glare at the others.
Walking quickly, I find my way to French.
I wore my favorite shirt.
Old and extra large, faded brown
criss-crossing blues and reds,
missing buttons on the sleeves.
Ah, but I do not have time to sit.
That bad, annoying urge.
I jump from my seat,
rushing out again into the chaos.
Snickering, and giggling, and gossiping
I do not pay this any heed
I disallow it to touch my ears.
I have other needs.
Just to make sure, just to check
I gaze into a mirror,
flushing red at the sight
Small, lacy black peaked through
I found another missing button.
