Buttons on my Heart

Contributed by karoody on Friday, 12th September 2008 @ 06:40:50 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

i know that you and i learned the same morals
matter of fact we learned together
while she taught us
yet when i get my feelings hurt
i'm told there's no time for my feelings
everytime i cry, everytime i feel
my reality is too much
i keep you on eggshells, you say
i'm high maintenance and require kid gloves , you say

i'm watching the lives of you two
and i notice things that break my heart
even though you rip out the very soul of me
you are still family, that is always first
but i am ordered to turn my head
"it is none of my concern" the only explanation
my blood is not my concern?

all my life, i feel something
it's inconvenient to someone somewhere
reality gets a little too deep
someone wants to shove another pill down my throat
so that they can handle my psychosis
you're having a hard time with my psychosis?
what about me?
you get to shove pills at me and go away
i have to stay with me
perhaps a hug and a friend, maybe some love
forget the pills
we saw how those stopped me frome being suicidal

tell me
where are the buttons on my heart
so that i can turn my feelings off like yours
so that people can handle my psychosis
and i may get a little love and hugs from people
when i'm broken down too
in all my years
i never found the buttons
but everyone seems to think i possess them
and i just can't accommodate people today

You weren't put here to accommodate people. But you know, you really do accommodate a lot of people with your big wonderful heart. Sad that certain people in your life can't recognize that.

Basically what Nessa said... you are a beautiful loving caring person. Don't change or I just might get a squeaky voice!!!

Anyway, this poem speaks volumes to me. I have been searching for those buttons to my heart for years. I call it the emotion switch! Damn i I can find it...and even if I did, would it work? Probably not.

Oh sweetie, I wish I had answers. This is so typical of humans though.
"Be there for me in my time of need, but don't you dare give me any
of YOUR pain. I don't have the time for it!" I"m sorry hun. I relate to
you so well in that for years I was told I was too sensitive and
emotional. WTH? And that is supposed to help? I learned to let those
people go and cling to the ones who are there for me. (And yes, it was
sometimes family members-- those who should KNOW better!) I didn't
push them out of my life, but they are less involved than they would
have been, had they afforded ANY kind of compassion.

Sorry to ramble hun, but I just want you to know I'm just a PM away. :)
And I understand. Life is tough. We all need people who will just
listen and offer a shoulder sometimes. I am sorry there are those
who do not understand that offering an ear and/or shoulder does as
much wonder (maybe more in some cases), as than "fixing" the problem.

Stay strong sweets. ^_^ You got the gumption to be whatever and
do whatever you want! All my hopes and prayers are with you.

in admiration,

~ Breezy

You are a beautiful soul and i can totally relate to what you say here and it can be tough, but you have a big heart and a whole lot of love, so you hang in there and know you are never alone, take care.
With love and light Starchild xxxx
