A life in the dark, or a life with the blind

Contributed by beefybeebuzz on Sunday, 31st August 2008 @ 05:24:17 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

i focused on the sunlight seeping in through the crack
i dug myself a hole and i was never going back
i noticed that people were crawling outside
weighed down by their egos and their sense of pride
i thought about the people who were lost out there
with their cold gazes, false phases, not a single care
they were poisoned to ignorance, to humility, and shame
but underneath their fake identity, who was to blame?
it was their choice that they ended up out there
into the cold city, where they breathed toxic air
they do not work for knowledge, but beg for a chance
they look upon the devil, then they ask for a dance
opportunity was givento them, time and time again
all they had to do was pick up a book, or even a pen
they had to seek some knowledge, to see the truth
they had the door open to them, since they had their first tooth
but they chose to live in shadows by the endless well
they lived their ignorant lives and then they went to hell
but the few that chose true freedom, they lived down here with me
digging away, to find the place beyond eternity
we look for the truth, and we seek the success
we want alot more, but we work for no less
we will live to be real, and not live fake lives
even when told not to, we play with knives
we learn, we seek, till our very last breathe
for the live well lived, and a peaceful death...

this is a fantastic poem, a very imaginative way of describing the difference between the ignorant and those who yearn for knowledge. i couldn't have put it better myself.
