Darkness
Came upon you.
You kissed him and you said "good-bye".
Your eyes told his tale until it was lost
In the lives of so many others.
I held your hand.
There is no glory here.
You smiled
As the waves broke,
Bowed, to kiss your feet.
The sand''s burning touch only warmed your spirits.
A voice said "hello,"
And you saw me there.
There is no meaning here.
The snowball stung
Your peaceful cheek
And the dripping cold sent shivers of glee
Past your shoulder.
Your fingers warmed at thoughts of
Fires and Chocolate,
Yet we stayed outside.
There is no triumph here.
I gazed upon the lips
Through which all of your words must pass.
As I looked up to meet your relentless eyes,
You already had an answer to my question.
You could not quite say,
"Here, there is no triumph,
No meaning.
Of course there is no glory here,
It wouldn''t fit."
So you smile
And simply say,
"This is where the music belongs"
