the girl

Topic: oops

hello, she says as no one turns to look,
she is of no importance to anyone,
she continues on with a smile on her face
brushing off the ignorance of everyone
surrounding her,
she feels so alone in this world,
day after day she tries so hard
to be the dream girl,
she never prevails,
she is just the ugly girl
who no one gives the time of day.
she is the most loving,
caring,
&friendly person
anyone could ever meet
Why does everyone go by looks?
she asks herself as she cries herself to sleep,
This girl has the best personality
or so she thinks
is it not her appearance that no one likes?
or is it her overly energetic,
happy, vociferous presence?
the real question is what is it?
Will this girl ever find her true self?
And be happy with her life,
Or will she continue to wallow in her own misery?

I don't even know how to respond to this besides telling you that I have never connected so much to a poem.
This made me cry.
