The Fish

Contributed by navydocny on Thursday, 28th August 2008 @ 02:50:22 AM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

The fish is lying on a drying shoal, glistened scales broiled by the sol
Cursing its fate, its motion lost, forever the sun, its vicious accost
Water’s reprieve, its need to respire, always wallowed in circumstance dire
It will not go to waters unplumbed; it stays in the shallows, though it’s not dumb
As nature believes, it is time to reap; the fish opens its mouth and begins to breathe
Not today or anytime soon, will the lungfish feel death’s loneliest swoon
It is far stronger than all that have given, to find what it seeks is what renders it driven
To live without that, that thing that we need, the who, or what and the love indeed
I am that Lungfish, for all to see, I search for her waters that will set me free

I like it. I sometimes think of myself as a fish out of water. Take care.
