I came to a crossroads one windy autumn day
Looking in every direction I try to make up my mind
This way and that trying to decide which way
Not knowing yet what I would find
Turning back to the bridged that I had debated to cross
To find out that it burned after I crossed it
Looking at my choices again, the path to the right was bright and heavily covered in moss
While the one to my left was dark gloomy and covered in a heavy mist
Getting close to nightfall
I decided to bed down for the night
Waking the next morning to find myself at the base of a giant stone wall
And oh! What a beautiful sight
Then I heard a lovely voice singing from somewhere on the other side
Walking along the wall I tried to find a way in
Thinking to myself if within I could reside
Wondering about the voice that was coming from within
I came upon a gate after a couple of hours or so
Which had to be at least 20 feet high
Opening before me to find a fountain from which the clearest water did flow
While all the could escape my lips was a gentle sigh
For inside these walls stood a magnificent castle
With a courtyard of the brightest green
Everything was perfect with nothing out of place, not a single tassel
For it was within that courtyard that I saw her, the most beautiful woman I had ever seen
With long hair of copper hue that flowed to her lower back
Wearing a blue satin gown the matched the color of her eyes
After seeing her I lost my balance falling to the ground upon my back
Immediately a feeling rushed over me and I felt as if I could fly
“Why don’t you come back with me?” I asked her
Back to the Crossroads
I am sorry to say that I cannot fine sir
For many years within this place I have called this abode
“How many years have you been here?” I asked her
I will answer you question but will you first come inside with me
As I entered the foyer there was a faint scent of incense and myrrh
At which time she answered saying, “I have been here all 19 years of my life you see”
No one was ever supposed to find me here in this place
And now I must ask you to leave me
But before you do I have only one request
Will you kiss me?

Except for a couple of typos (they made the poem stumble requiring re-read), I really thought this was good.
And what Jenni said, you make the reader wonder if she was kissed.
There were a couple of poems I wrote years ago I wish I could find. One I did lose but I pitched one because I became discouraged when a now defunked site never published it.
It was a response to this poem:

Nicely done.
Thank you for an enjoyable read.
