Even though the world believes
That I am just a man
I tend to start to grieve
Just as I insist I don't give a damn.
Suffocate in your ignorance
I'll drown in my cynicism
And at the end of all of this
We'll see who died first.
Ignorance may be bliss.
But I'll take my cynical grin.
To the grave.
Kiss my children as we wave
Goodbye to your blindness of sin.
Cynical grin and knowing eye
Cuts through your body
You flinch away at the cold regard
And gingerly smile at me, as I
Snicker for your features are marred
By a look of surprise and unsure eyes
Feel free to hope for the best
I'll continue to expect the worst
Because it's all thats left
Of a now-broken world.
Dreams are shattered and smashed.
Hopes clatter and crash.
As everyone closes their eyes
To the belligerence of it all.
Happiness is an illusion
A delusion, a false belief of collusion
Between two people who can never agree
And when it falls apart who are we...
To judge and decide, how terrible they are
For not having survived. And falling so far.
***** the future and plan for now
Today is the day we all must endure
Thinking to tomorrow, and wondering how
You're going to survive. When all thats sure
Is that your going to die.
Live your own life, as I do mine.
Tired of this strife. But if you come to find
That you need me as much as you say
Then I'll see you on that fateful day
When heaven shines down
And again I look upon your frown.
On that day I'll be your Jack.
And we'll forever look back.
And realize that we were never right.
Except for when we decided to fight.
And proved that our love is real.
