Star Child

Topic: AngryPoetry

I want to quit; I’m done.
You want a star child, well, I’m not that one.
You tell me I have to finish my commitment.
There are so many things I want to tell you, but instead, I stay silent.
My screams, I wear on my body,
Where no one can see.
Not even you.
If my friends told you how much I was hurting, you’d deny it was true.
You think you know me, what I’ve been through.
But you haven’t got a clue.
So sick of having to hold up the image for you that I do.
I should show you just how much I’m hurting.
But I know it would break your heart if you knew I’d gone back to cutting.
So I’ll just keep that in, just like everything else.
I’ll just keep hiding everything until I can’t no more.
Maybe then, when I finally break and walk out your door,
You’ll realize that I’m not your star child.
Maybe then you’ll realize how hard it was for me every time I ever smiled.
