Lost in the Sadness
My heart empty and alone,
Soul covered in the darkness of the moment
It’s been days now that I haven’t heard your voice
Eyes Swollen and red from the endless flow of tears
Body growing weak from lack of nourishment
I lay alone in our bed
Searching for comfort in your scent
Wanting nothing more than to feel your arms around me
To hear you whisper I love you softly in my ear
But each time I wake, I am alone
The silence broken only by my cries
I struggle for the strength to go on
To continue to breathe
But as one moment passes into the next
I find myself giving in to the sadness
Slipping into the loneliness
Losing sight of the light
Searching for understanding without any answers
Trying to make sense out of things that make no sense
Confused, deserted and alone
I am lost in the sadness

Oh shannon,
I am soo sorry. I tried to IM you back the other day. I do hope you are holding up. It a fantastically written poem and in a word perfect. It is so painfully full of emotion and I can see myself lost in sadness as I have felt this oh too much myself. I love the perfect flow and feeling within this poem but I am sad for the wrencing in your heart. We love you here and wish you only the best - k.

Oh Shannon, it has been far too long since I last visited YPDC. I come to your pages and read with such sadness dear friend. My heart is ladden with such hurt and I feel your pain. I wished I can wrap my arms around you and take away all your pain and heartache. Soul searching is a thing unfortunately I think nobody can help us with.We take this deep journey on our own. Dear Shannon ... this breaks me. And perhaps it is because I have
been down this road; perhaps it is because I am privy to your pain;
perhaps it is just that this is so damn emotive I cannot help myself.
Whatever the case, it is heartache, bleeding unyieldingly upon the
page. Keep up your spirit, woman. Brighter things lay on the horizon.

Sadness...the most horrifying feeling in the world and I think that there is no doubt that you felt every word of this to it's complete extent. This bleeds from the pages, screams from the page, the words literally weep! This is a captured moment of torture more perfectly worded than many poems that contain the same theme. As you write from being lost in sadness, so does the reader get lost in the moment of your sadness. Every single familiar aspect the reader relates to is echoes a thousand times placing us back momentarily in our own past sadness. This is brilliant, though I am sure you were only aiming to write this out and could care less of it's brilliance. But this is just that!
I am so sorry about the tragedies you have been through in your life and this moment in particular. I am glad to see this was written a while back and certainly hope things have gotten better.

| 2008 your poem was posted and still the words drift with a sting that is simply poisonous enough to last many more days, that was brilliant but the spot for my best poem still lies vacant like the nothing in air, but thats just me. |

THIS is the number one read poem? I am an archer that has set his trajectory far beyond his target.
I LIKE this site, but (and moderators, ban me if you must, with, I must confess, a bit of sadness from me). If THIS is the standard by which your readership gauges value, then I am probably on the wrong site.
