aborted

Contributed by elle on Monday, 11th August 2008 @ 09:35:46 AM in AEST
Topic: anguished

I had you taken
pulled from me,
not once, my love, but twice.
each time, enslaved
in dread & fear,
to endeavour sacrifice.
bare upon the cutting floor.
disgraced by lack & knife. . .
to cut away a part of me
this. . . I so deplore.
but still it came to pass.
& now an empty vicinity
does lie awake,
inside of me. . .
long after I am spent & honed
to recollect
the gift, unknown. . .
oh hollow sound
& door, ajar
how near, forgiveness?
& peace. . . how far?

Nicely written ...

Maybe it is just me ... but I feel maybe even see a double meaning in this.

May peace find your heart and soul.

I agree, this can be so read with a dual meaning but pulls more in the direction of such a painful exoeriance that does truely leave you feling hollow and empty - a piece of you missing. This is well written where the pain and emptiness is fully expressed in these well strung words.

this is stunning, touches on a subject not many people will,
and is filled with such strong emotion...
you are an incredible poet, really. :)

elle, I read this poem some time ago and didn't comment! so glad I was searching your page for diamonds in the coal sack of YPDC.

This is so raw, so beautiful. Painful with that echo of emptiness but the crush of guilt along for the ride.

The rhyme scheme is subtle but noticed in a lament that resonates through this macho sensibility. Bravo, great poetry.
