24 cops 23 squad car town

Topic: happypoetry

Out in the middle of nowhere.
What in the heck are we doing out here?
No lights, little two line highway
mountains, dark and 6% grades.

Then the flood gates open wide.
Traffic riding up our tail gate
nowhere they can go
just hang out there where in the heck do they go?

A little town in the distance
a cop another and one more
more dark then more blue lights
what are all these coppers out here for?

We fell off the face of the real world?
Into a different universe
is this place out here the town of hell?
Ten more cops and state bull passing by.

24 cops and only 23 squad cars
what do they do with the extra one?
he is sitting off in the dark and sage brush
lone rider holding a radar gun...

He has a mighty side iron
with only a pair of bullets
watch out for the wild animals
with eyes glowing red..
come on stop picking on us big trucks...

Sad thing is we be the only target
this route has us out of our minds
the big red 18 wheeler with nowhere to run and hide
in the midst of the dark and winding roads
the lighting flashes and way to many four-wheelers

We got our peepers set in the midst of headlights
24 cops and 23 squad car late night ride.........

Unreal sometimes...there is a town here they have 1 mile stretch of freeway but they support the whole town off that lone mile

I drove through a few places like that when I was driving between NC and Texas to go visit my folks.....That one lone cop hiding off in the bushes waiting to pounce on his unsespecting prey.....I wonder what they say when they are on the receiving end of that citation.....get caught at their own game somewhere.....Great write Shel....brought back memories of simpler times....

This made me chuckle, I can only imagine what you must see day to day on your drives. Very enjoyable read.
