Even after the changing of seasons ceases to exist.

Even after the changing of seasons ceases to exist.

Closing my eyes, I reflect on life with tears in my eyes
My ears can only hear the bittersweet song playing in my heart
I want to silence the screaming rain that falls somewhere in my mind
And erase all the sorrowful memories

But I abstain once again…
And recover from the darkness for our sake
If I rid myself of those sad memories
then what is left of the beautiful ones we shared?
I can’t bring myself to burn the bridges that united our paths.
We were both different from the start
But our love was blind
It only recognized what layed under the surface
The real me and the real you
My heart took cautious steps towards yours
…at the same time you ran toward mine without fear or regret.
I wish I would have been as carefree as you were then
I regret being so afraid and pushing you away
So much time wasted putting up a barrier around this stubborn heart of mine.
Only to have it crumble all around me with your honest promise of affection
I’ll whisper my sorrows into the wind in hopes that it will reach you
Wherever it is that you have gone to
Forgive me for trying to play with fate by delaying it’s intended clock
Remember that warm afternoon by the lake?
I can still smell the flowers you picked out for me
Do you remember the words I whispered into your ear?
I want you to know that what I said to you then was the truth
The years have passed by one by one
Right over my head without much notice
Because in my heart there are precious memories of you
Memories that seem to be in a standstill
Once again I’m playing with clocks,
but this time it’s with the intention of keeping you close by my side as if nothing tragic ever happened. I will love you
even after the changing of seasons that grace this delicate world cease to exist.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
