It's Hard to Miss You When You're Still Around.

I'm sorry i can't relate to
the reckless things you do
but i never got the opportunity
to be sinful like a teenager should
growing up never felt so wrong
i wish i were younger and wiser at once
knew the burn of a cigarette against my lips
knew the taste of alcohol and
survived so much more
then a divorce and loneliness
i need some mainstream pain
the kind that gets radio play
the kind the kids put in their veins
for one last boost of relatability
before their 20s make them tame
take away their youthful crimes
and make them leave good humor behind
---------
I am sorry I’m not what you wanted
i'm sorry i couldn't be that girl you loved
and will never be the girl you love
maybe my worth lies somewhere else
in a box i haven't found yet
buried beneath street lamps
and the sound of a teenage romance
in a car that's mine
but is too fast to drive.
maybe you'll love me if i crash in the night
give you the lyrics for another hit
give you a memory to keep you warm
give you a longing i've never felt.
a longing that sits in your stomach and burns.
a sensation you'd mistake for a heart
if it beat the way you always dreamed it would.

Mainstream pain... that to me just was completely and totally awesome - 100% made the first piece. It's so true, and I never hear pain in that context... but out of all the types of pain sometimes mainstream is best for like you said, relating. Man, those two words just were BAM to me, this comment may be unintelligent at best, but I know when I read something good and dang, that was good. Nice write. |
