You take off in a steady strut;
How I wish that I strode abut.
You look to me the paragon
Of picking up and moving on.
When was it that you consigned
To drift on and leave me behind?
For a moment I thought you might deign
To tarry with me in the rain.
This could be like an idyll,
A seamless bit of movie reel.
But you persevere in your strut,
Leaving me caught in this rut.
