Reality bites....or does it?

Written when my family life and my work life are both in a major flux!
Delusions of grandeur, of love in the air,
Illusions of happiness, so dear and so rare
Believing in goodness, the honesty of man,
Then seeing reality, that life is oh so unfair.
Trying ones hardest, to swim and not sink,
Giving ones all, and believing in dreams
Helping the needy, all over the world
Then getting taken, by cheats and by schemes.
Taking a deep breath, and trying to smile
Fighting through jungles, of paper and ink
Pushing e’er harder, to find the right path.
Keeping ones head up, else one would sink.
Battling dragons throughout the workplace
Fighting the demons that one can so easily find
Holding on tightly to pets and people well loved
Sighing and seeking the peace of heart and mind.
Ever so slowly, the tides seem to turn
The waters receding, the sun up above
Is it human nature, this cycle to fight?
Or is it emotion, our longing for love?
