Shades of Blue

Contributed by spike on Thursday, 24th July 2008 @ 10:58:14 PM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

I’ve flared all kinds of red
when jealousy rears its ugly head;
and plumbed the blackness of the soul
when alone with no-one at all.

But the light that you bring to me
a kaleidoscope of love I see;
a spectrum that colours in
the pencil sketch of all my whims,
and fills me out with warmth and depth
to hunger when there’s nothing left.

That’s why
I’m all shades of blue,
when I’m without you.

So when it’s time to let you go
this is my mood, of indigo;
hoping that you will come back
to brush away the blue and black.

Because when you’re gone
I don’t know what to do
— I’m blue because I miss you.

Hey, Mr. Spike I'm seein' all kinds o' blue 'round these red rock whereabouts where we spent time with you. Memorable times bring smiles to our faces. That little Nissan truck's fixed 'n' ready fer another roundabout with ya.

Colorful capture of the moment 'n' the mood with this piece. We miss ya but we don't wanna marry ya, though. Well, maybe Marti might but doubtful ... cause

#25 anniversary comin' up Sept. 7th. Wish you could be here.

Oh Spike, what an adoring write! And I know exactly how this shade of
blue
feels. You captured an essence here my friend. The beauty of a full heart
can spread many colours, but you've described the blueness of missing
someone to perfection. I ADORE the last line. Such a simple line, but holds
so much power. Hope all is well. :)

~Breezy
(ps. I love the title!! *winks*)

You've covered a spectrum of both colours and emotions in a few short stanzas that go straight to the heart of how you're feeling.

I find that different shades blue can cover quite a range of emotions depending on the depth and shade of the colour.

Take care,

Dom
