So many feelings that can't be avoided
Always present but behind the mask
Well the mask has been removed
Underneath the raw pain revealed
These feelings of hurt and despair
confusion, depression, and maybe even worthlessness.
No more hiding behind the mask.
With it's permanent smile and rosy cheeks, a perfect lie
The eyes see through to the soul,
sad and complicated is what lies beneath
But no one sees, no one looks.
Why does this mask lie so?
The betrayal of the owner of those somber eyes
Giving others the illusion of happiness
All the while, behind the mask,
the pain chafes away at me
