Trucker lament

Contributed by recklessguy on Friday, 18th July 2008 @ 02:38:42 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

The road is always calling
I hug her curves each round.
Prices of fuel a burning
home cooked food a fool is yearning.

My co driver seat is empty
many friends have come and gone.
Dinner could almost be lonely
just chattering truckers
the same old song.

We let that wanderlust
drive deep into the bone.
Gear jamming and cb noise
late night tornado's rockin my bed.

Yardsticks fade into the distance.
Taillights shining on chrome do the same.
Chicken coop got its lights on
this night could prove to be lame.

Smokey bear trying to hide out
my bird dog howling
guess I better back er down.
Long way from home to be gettin locked up
call out the calvary this outlaw is home ward bound.
