I Lost a Friend

Contributed by rania on Thursday, 17th July 2008 @ 12:23:04 PM in AEST
Topic: Grief

Be thinner, lose weight, and exercise more.
These sayings always tell us to strive for the impossible.
My friend got caught up in attempting to achieve ‘perfection’
In the mirror she saw imperfection,
“I need to exercise more, eat less, and puke more.”
She lost the weight, and kept on losing more.
That youthful happiness was replaced by hollow greyness.
She wouldn’t listen, she was never perfect enough
There could always be a few more pounds lost.
The thought enveloped her and she lost more
And more, until the fire of life inside of her
Was extinguished, and there she lay,
Alone and friendless, helpless and gone,
Attempting to puke out her last mean, and
Striving for that unattainable perfection

Oh this is so darn sad. Our society ruins things for people .
I went through this with three friends at different times, it is such a deep seated addiction and pain though we try to help we cannot fix that beast. I am so sorry for your loss. Please do not blame yourself either sweety there was nothing you could have done more than what you already did you cannot fight that beast.

Hugs
Michelle
