I am too selfish tonight
The time is now 22:33,
our son is asleep,
I want to say sorry to our son,
I didn't tell him you were coming.
I was afraid he will wait for you,
just so......
Before our son went to bed,
he asked me when you will come back,
I smiled and promised him,
he can see you tomorrow morning,
he said to me,
"Really?
I must wake up early......"
I wonder why,
I am too selfish tonight.
After dinner,
I wanted to tell our parents your news,
but the words stuck in my throat,
for I didn't want anyone to share it.
Yes,
I am very selfish tonight,
I hope I am the first person appearing before your eyes,
I don't want anyone to disturb us,
I wish tonight only belong to ourselves......
Looking at the clock,
I know you will come back soon,
once again I look at our son,
kiss him to say I love him.
Do you know?
there is your favorite foods in our room,
I bought them for you this afternoon......
Now,
The silence is uncanny,
our parents have fallen asleep,
our room is a marvel of neatness and order,
let me stow the pen and notebook away in the drawer......
Yes,
I am going to stand at the door,
I want to hear the scurry of your feet outside,
I want to open the door at the first time,
I want to give you a very surprise,
there is also some tea for you.
Yes,
a wonderful time will only belong to us.......

| loved the poem original and well it was well spoken/written. just remember its ok to be selfish sometimes. you have to indulge in some of your wants once in a while. because its hard to make other happy if your not happy yourself :). |
