Keeper of My Heart

Contributed by wheels on Wednesday, 16th July 2008 @ 03:34:02 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

Is it dead?
Just poke it with a stick
Probe it, no wonder that it’s sick
It lays there wet and withered
It is hard to know if there is anything left to kill
Till the pain reminds us there is
No heart left within my breast
Just a space were a bullet could pass
Untouched nor molested
Nothing there to scrape
Adding to the turbulence
Of the emptiness inside
Leaving barely a wake
To a void of pain
And I will always have her memory
Building a wall of tears
Tapping me on my shoulder
Keeper of my heart
Invading my thoughts
Killing a heart I no longer hold
A heart no longer within my breast
And still…
It is hard to know if there is anything left to kill
Till the pain reminds us there is.

Kevin, I was going to say that the ache we feel is testament that our hearts still live
and breathe, but then you summed it up perfectly in your last line! (Go figure ... I'd jump the gun!
I'm too enthusiastic sometimes even for my own good)

It is so damn hard to really describe what the ache of lonely truly is. Not being alone,
but truly being lonely. Though, I must say, you've done a tremendous job of stabbing your
reader through the heart with this piece. Who could ever have thought that an emptiness
could feel so full? Pain, hurt, sorrow, longing, confusion .. there is no end to the
scope of emptiness, you know? I hope things will continue to get easier for you.

Your writing reminds me of good things, as ironic as that may sound. I'm sorry
that it takes such a torturous moment lingering, to steal the breath of those who
read you. Keep writing and know, there are many who admire and gather
inspiration from you. =)

Have a good night ~

~Breezy

The pain will subside in time.
Hang tuff, friend.

wow you hit that one hard... "It is hard to know if there is anything left to kill
Till the pain reminds us there is" that was my favorite part, the central theme it seemed. I can tell this was well thought out and it shows through, I really enjoyed this piece and the thoughts were so well laid out and the emotion so raw that it really was easy to throw myself into the piece and make an attempt to understand where you were coming from when writing it. I'm a new fan, I'll be looking into more of your work.. thanks for posting!
