America

Topic: oops

Welcome to the land of the stripes and stars.
We have come so far
Lead by a czar
We trap our enemies in a glass jar

We tap the glass and peer inside
Eyes of red, white, and blue: Our colors of pride
Red, white and blue: destructions for those who defied
Up the glass they climb and down they fall
Not enemies of war enemies of the greedy
The poor, the worthless, the needy

It’s the nation for which we stand
We say this pledge with money in hand

So pledge to this flag that is a symbol of all we kill.
Under fear we take past our fill.
With liberty and Justice.
We do all things for the dollar bill.

I though the poem itsef was very good actually, some nice rhyming and a very unique ebb and flow too it, and an obvious love of your country, it sjust found it slightly demeaning towards oher countries, maybe i picked it up wrong but i thikn the part where you said the flag is a symbol of all we kill was a bit much, maybe im woring but some poeple may be offened by this...good writing though, you can pm me if you wish..

I agree, it is a good poem, but some may get offended. One thing I would like to point out is that greed is not a trait bound to only the US. In fact greed is one of the things that lead to the corruption and destruction of the communist party (supposedly altruistically rendered) USSR. Greed is trait of man not just countries. Yes the US has an economy based upon the wealth or greed of companies and business and some people to get trampled under. Unfortunately without a certain degree of greed or desire to gain wealth no businesses would succeed and no jobs would exist - an economy on collapse. The key is to have a balance of goodwill and awareness of others. All too often though greed becomes ones sole purpose and they trample upon anyone. Losing sight of how empty their goal becomes when there is none with which to share and all those about you have been destroyed. In other words - the ends do not justify the means. All in all I do not read this as an anti-US sentiment, but an anti-political corruption piece. Nicely done - but risky depending upon the interpretation.
