Chances come like soft spoken footsteps
Through the park
Then slip away
Like springtime streams
Into the sticky summer.
Such routine should not have been
Day-to-day
With footsteps dragging
Alone, entrenched,
Trapped for winter’s wait.
Though…
Such is the way of things unseen
While waiting for tomorrow
As dust shall come invade the spirit
And settle upon the rust
Of forgotten dreams.

Kevin, this is so painfully beautiful. There is such a melancholy and forlorn
air to these words, and yet they are so beautiful in their imagery. You do this
sort of thing so well. You have an uncanny skill to capture a heart with beauty
only to break it with the deepest, most profound sadness imaginable.
Damn fine writing. Kudos, my friend.
