memories that wont come clean

Contributed by sorrowsofabrokenheart on Friday, 11th July 2008 @ 01:30:48 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

I stare into the mirror, peering into my own eyes
A stranger reflected back from the tattered glass
With no strength to speak of my demons
The monsters in my dreams
I’ll take these secretes to my grave
Letting my smile become just another way to lie
And I’m tired of your excuses,
The ones I force myself to believe
Until I’m left to battle myself in mirror
A war I just can’t win

Trapped in desolate thoughts
With tears that bleed onto my pillow
Covering Scars that run to deep to hide
All the summers spent
With the phone pressed tight to my chest
Waiting for a call I never received

Tell me do you remember when I was a kid
Trying find a safe place, a permanent escape
Away from the discomfort of your embrace
You stumbled in woke me up
Just to tell me it was all my fault
I paid for your addiction
Hiding bruises of bad decisions
The blood of my childhood stained into sheets
Memories that will never come clean

Now I fear I’ve reached my December
And its cold here alone
No one to turn to nothing to call my own
My heart becoming words on a piece of paper
This is me crying out, can you hear my sighs
Or do you continue to ignore the pain
That lies behind these vacant blue eyes

Absolutely brilliant writing here. The pain is vivid and the imagery is sharp. You are quite talented.
