Sugar and Spice Love

Contributed by Madi on Thursday, 10th July 2008 @ 04:07:58 PM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

We would hold hands together
Sing, laugh, dance, and play
We would smile
And gaze
And wonder in the same way
We would dream together
a soft kiss was all it took
To prove you were light
and a day without you
is a day without sunshine
and a day without sunshine is no day at all

We were like the lemon and lime
the salt and the pepper
we were like sugar and spice
it was everything nice
we were like the ketchup and the mustard
the moon and the stars
Together forever-forever arm in arm
Together forever- forever didn’t last so long

When the thunder roars
the lightning strikes
Times got rough
we started to fight
When the clouds rolled in
the sky turned grey
the sun faded away
and a day without you
is a day without sunshine
and a day without sunshine is no day at all

We were like the lemon and lime
and the salt and the pepper
we were like sugar and spice
it was everything nice
we were like the ketchup and the mustard
the moon and the stars
Together forever-forever arm in arm
Together forever- forever didn’t last so long

As time went on
The rain went away
The sun in the sky
But it did not shine
The stars were harsh and bright
they hurt like a knife
Because when the stars don’t sparkle
And the sun doesn’t light
Because you arnt here
And a day without you
is a day without sunshine
and a day without sunshine is no day at all

We were like the lemon and lime
and the salt and the pepper
we were like sugar and spice
it was everything nice
we were like the ketchup and the mustard
the moon and the stars
Together forever- arm in arm
Together forever- forever didn’t last so long

Tell Prince Charming happily everafter didn’t work out s well
Tell ken to hold onto Barbie while he still has his love
Tell Romeo that Juliet should not have died
Tell Danny to Love Sandy before the Grease wears off
Tell all the Lovers that their love will fade away
And I know from experience
That all this is true
I know because my experience
With me and you

We were like the lemon and lime
and the salt and the pepper
we were like sugar and spice
it was everything nice
we were like the ketchup and the mustard
the moon and the stars
Together forever- arm in arm
Together forever- forever didn’t last so long

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
