it rained for weeks
the air is heavy with the threat of it, even now
the puddles flash with the reflections of the streetlights
my hand on your arm
innocent and unsure
the hem of my pants kicks water into my shoes
our laughter rings out over the still water
we've stolen these moments, i have no right to
take joy in this
moments spent with you should be miserable and hated,
spent begging time to pass
as it is we watch late nights slip out of our fingertips
