History Will Remember

Contributed by Rosewing on Sunday, 16th March 2003 @ 11:00:00 PM in AEST
Topic: political

You can take them to the border line
And lead them by the hand,
They can travel far across the world,
But they still won’t understand
The reason for the outrage.
Do they ever listen ?
Do they even care?
Will History still remember - when they're gone?

Statistics twisted on the bulletin boards
to prove that black is white.
As we all stand by in silence
The young men begin to fight
In our name they bring home glory
and a place in history’s
ever changing book
which only the winners get to write!

What care the politicians if thousands lose their lives
What care the men on high?
The Generals never march to war
But just smile sweetly when they lie
and never answer questions
as to when and how and why
the cannon fodder was destroyed
By ever so‘friendly’ fire.

‘My enemy’s enemy is my friend’
They strive to help his cause
World peace is at stake, or so they say
It’s a moral use of force.
After all we’ve done to save the world
Ungrateful ‘Old Europeans’
We need this war to feed the dream
and the History that Hollywood writes.

Very well said, I especially like the middle stanza...damn well so true, sadly. Let us all pray for our defence forces that are on stand-by.
