Into Darkness the Road Oft Traveled

Contributed by ingeniusidiot on Saturday, 28th June 2008 @ 05:43:32 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

Upon the side of this old highway I stand and realize
How much I have cared about what everyone has thought or thinks
As the Ol’ Devil sits upon the rocks and stares at me and winks
And finally coming to understand what it is about this world that I truly despise

The clouds are rolling in as this same old song of darkness contorts
The hopeful thoughts that die while this throat catches fire and begins burn
Suffocating under hatred's pulse I understand the answer I yearn
And as the world grabs the best of me the devil’s laughter distorts

Down this desolate road away from myself I travel
As demons show every flaw that stress the very infrastructure of my soul
Towards the eternal sunset these feet walk as the old church bell sounds its final toll
For in this resolute darkness the fabric of my mind begins to unravel

For some say that life begins after death but I laugh at the very thought
For as the cobble stoned road that my feet do grace begins to rumble
I can feel the heat trace around my skin as hell begins to crumble
And I fall down under the pressure of others and the pain that they have brought

Still yet I believe that it is by evil, not goodwill that spins this world around the sun
For it is by no other way they live but by the illusion that has been created in their head
When the morning comes no longer the unknowing souls realize that they are dead
For every sin committed by bleeding hand is cast in stone and can never be undone

Rich,
You two captured a true real time situation and wrote it with a dark flair. I could almost feel the fire.*winks*
Wonderful job.

Hugs
